Care & Safety
Last updated November 3, 2026
Everything we sell is simple to use, and a few plain rules keep it that way. This page brings together the care and safety information for every IKI product, family by family. If your product comes with a printed guide, read it before use and keep it. If the guide ever says something different from this page, follow the more cautious of the two and tell us.

For every IKI product
- Every IKI product is for adults. Keep each one, its small parts and its packaging out of reach of children and pets. None of them is a toy.
- Stop using a product and take it off if your skin gets red, itchy, irritated or sore. If the irritation does not go away, talk to a doctor.
- IKI products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition, and nothing on this website replaces the advice of a doctor.
- If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or nursing, or take medicine, ask your doctor before you use our products.
- If you snore loudly, stop breathing during sleep, gasp at night or feel very tired during the day, talk to a doctor. These can be signs of a condition, such as sleep apnea, that needs care. None of our products is a way to manage it.
- Strips and tape are single use: never reapply a strip. Do not share strips, tape, earplugs, aroma sticks or a mask with anyone else.
Dawn Band and Dawn Band Pro
Wearing the band
- Wear it snug, not tight: you should be able to slide a finger under the strap. Loosen it if your hand tingles or the strap leaves a deep mark.
- Take it off now and then to let the skin under it rest, and keep the strap clean and dry. Stop wearing it if the skin under it gets red, itchy or sore.
- Keep it dry: take it off to shower, bathe, swim or wash dishes. If it gets wet, dry it completely before you charge it.
- Stop using it if it is damaged, swollen, hot to the touch or smells of burning. See If a device gets hot, swells, smokes or smells.
When the wake-up matters
- A vibration on the wrist does not wake everyone the same way, and a band can be off your wrist, out of charge or set to the wrong time. For a wake-up that really matters, such as an early flight, a shift or a medicine, set a second alarm too.
- Dawn Band and Dawn Band Pro are alarm clocks, not safety alarms. They do not react to smoke, fire, someone at the door or any other danger. Keep working smoke alarms at home. If you are deaf or hard of hearing, your local fire department can tell you about smoke alarms made for you.
- The bands have no ringtone, but the person next to you may still feel you move, or hear a faint buzz in a very quiet room.
The magnetic charging cable
- Charge the bands only with the magnetic cable that comes with them, plugged into a USB power adapter or a computer in good condition.
- Keep the magnetic cable away from pacemakers, implanted defibrillators and other implanted medical devices. If you have one, ask your doctor or the device maker how far to keep magnets away, and do not carry the cable in a chest pocket.
- Small metal bits, such as staples or hair pins, can stick to the magnetic end. Wipe it clean and dry before you charge.
- Charge on a hard, flat surface such as a nightstand or a desk. Never charge under a pillow, a blanket or a duvet, and never on the bed itself.
- Unplug the cable by its plug, never by pulling the cord. Stop using a cable that is frayed, cut, bent at the plug or scorched.
- Unplug it once the band is charged, and keep the cable out of reach of young children: a cord can wrap around a neck.
Lithium-ion batteries
Dawn Band, Dawn Band Pro and Ember Panel each hold a small rechargeable lithium-ion battery installed in the device. Lithium-ion batteries are part of everyday life, and they ask for a little care: a battery that is damaged, crushed or overheated can catch fire.
- Charge the device fully before its first use, as its product page explains.
- Never leave it in a hot car, in direct sun, on a radiator, or near a heater or an open flame.
- Do not open, crush, bend or puncture it, and do not try to remove or replace the battery.
- If it falls hard, look at it before you charge it again. If the case is cracked, bent or bulging, stop using it.
- If you will not use it for a few weeks, store it partly charged, in a dry place, away from heat and freezing cold.
- When you fly, keep the bands and Ember Panel in your carry-on bag when you can. If one goes in a checked bag, switch it off completely if it can be switched off, and pack it so that it cannot switch on. Each airline has its own rules: check them before you fly, and follow the crew's instructions.
- Never put a band or Ember Panel in household trash or a curbside bin. See Disposal and recycling.
Ember Panel
Your eyes
- Never look directly into the LEDs, and never point the panel at your eyes or anyone else's.
- Near-infrared light is invisible: you only see the red LEDs glow. Treat the panel as on whenever the red LEDs glow, and point it away from faces when you switch it on.
- Do not use it over or around the eyes, even with your eyes closed.
Your skin
- Hold it a few inches from the area you choose, never pressed against the skin.
- Use one session at a time with the built-in timer, which switches the panel off by itself, and let the skin rest before another session on the same area.
- Do not use it on broken, irritated or sunburned skin, or on tattoos.
- Stop at once if the skin gets hot, red or uncomfortable.
Ask your doctor first
Ask your doctor before you use Ember Panel if you are pregnant, if you are sensitive to light, if you take medicine or use skin products that make you sensitive to light, if you have epilepsy, or if you have a medical condition.
Using and charging it
- Keep it dry, and never use it in a bathroom, near a sink or a bath, or with wet hands.
- Do not fall asleep with it on, and do not use it under a blanket or a duvet.
- Charge it with a USB-C cable from a USB power adapter or a computer in good condition, on a hard, flat surface, never under a pillow or bedding. Unplug it once it is charged.
- Never use it on a child or on a pet, and keep it out of their reach.
- Stop using it if it is damaged, swollen, hot to the touch or smells of burning.
Lift Strips
- For adults only. Never put a strip on a child.
- Apply it on clean, dry, unbroken skin. Do not apply it on sunburned, irritated or broken skin, or on a cut or a pimple.
- Do not use it if you are allergic to adhesive tape or latex.
- If your skin has reacted to adhesive bandages or tape before, try a strip for a short time during the day first.
- After surgery or an injury to your nose or face, ask your doctor before you use one.
- Peel it off slowly, ideally after washing your face with warm water. Never pull it off quickly.
- Stop using the strips if irritation appears.
- Use each strip once, and keep the pouch closed between uses, in a dry place, away from heat.
Night Tape and Night Tape Lavender
Mouth tape asks for more care than the other products we sell. Please read every point before your first night.
Who should not use it
- Adults only. Never put mouth tape on a child, and never on anyone who cannot take it off on their own.
- Use it only if you breathe easily through your nose. Before your first night, try a strip for a few minutes while you are awake, for example while you read, and peel it off if you feel any need to breathe through your mouth.
- Do not use it with a cold or a blocked nose, with nausea or vomiting, after alcohol, sleeping pills or sedatives, or if you have a breathing, lung or heart condition.
- Do not use it if you are allergic to adhesive tape or latex. If your skin has reacted to adhesive bandages or tape before, try a strip for a short time during the day first.
- If you snore loudly, stop breathing during sleep, gasp at night or feel very tired during the day, talk to a doctor before you use mouth tape. These can be signs of a condition, such as sleep apnea, that needs care.
- If you are pregnant, ask your doctor first.
How to use it
- Wash and dry your lips, without balm. Do not use it on chapped, irritated or broken lips.
- Place it over the center of your closed lips, never over the whole mouth.
- Peel it off at once if you feel short of breath or uncomfortable, and in the morning peel it off slowly from one side.
- Use each strip once. Keep the pouch closed between uses, in a dry place, away from heat.
Night Tape Lavender
The lavender strip has a light scent. If scents bother you, or you know you react to lavender, choose the unscented Night Tape. Keep the strips away from your eyes.
Dusk Mask
- Never wear it while driving, walking, cooking or doing anything that needs your eyes.
- Adjust the strap so the mask sits snug but not tight.
- Do not wear it over irritated or infected eyes. Stop using it if irritation appears.
- Keep it away from open flames, candles and heaters.
- Hand wash it in cold water with a mild soap and let it air dry flat. Do not tumble dry, iron or bleach it.
Still Earplugs
- Never push an earplug into the ear canal. Press it over the opening of the ear and flatten it to cover it.
- With earplugs in, you may not hear an alarm, a smoke detector or someone calling you. Keep your alarm close, and keep working smoke alarms at home: Dawn Band vibrates on your wrist but does not react to smoke.
- Do not use them with an ear infection, ear pain or discharge, after ear surgery, or with ear tubes.
- They are not hearing protectors: do not use them for loud noise at work, at concerts, at a shooting range or with power tools.
- Wash your hands before you shape them. Use each earplug for a few nights only, then throw it away, sooner if it picks up dust or lint.
- If a piece stays in your ear, do not try to dig it out with a cotton swab or anything sharp: see a doctor.
- Choking hazard: keep them away from children and pets.
Aroma Sticks
- For smelling only. Hold the open end just under your nose, and never put the tube inside your nose.
- Keep the sticks away from your eyes, from broken skin and from open flames. If the contents touch your eyes, rinse them with plenty of clean water, and get medical help if the irritation continues.
- Do not swallow. Essential oils and menthol can be dangerous if swallowed, especially for children. If this happens, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 right away.
- Take extra care with the Wintergreen stick: wintergreen scents are often made with methyl salicylate (oil of wintergreen), which is very dangerous if swallowed, especially for children. Keep it, like every stick, closed and out of their reach.
- If you are pregnant or nursing, or have asthma, ask a doctor before you use them.
- Keep them away from pets: some essential oils are harmful to cats and dogs.
- Stop using them if you feel unwell or dizzy, or if your nose or skin gets irritated.
- Close the cap tightly after each use, and store the sticks away from heat and direct sun.
Band Case
- The case is made to carry a band and its cable. It is not a toy.
- Do not charge a band inside the closed case, and do not put a band away in it while it is hot or wet.
Children and pets
- None of our products is for children. Never use mouth tape, nasal strips, earplugs, aroma sticks or Ember Panel on a child.
- Keep every product, its small parts and its packaging out of reach of children and pets. Earplugs, strip and tape backings, aroma sticks and their caps are small enough to swallow or choke on. The bands and Ember Panel contain lithium-ion batteries. A charging cable or a mask strap can wrap around a neck.
- Throw away plastic wraps from the packaging, out of reach of children.
- If someone is choking or has trouble breathing, call 911. If a child or an adult swallows the contents of an aroma stick, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
- If a pet chews or swallows any part of a product, call your veterinarian or an animal poison control center right away.
If a device gets hot, swells, smokes or smells
A band or Ember Panel can feel slightly warm while it charges. If it gets hot to the touch, swells or bulges, smokes, leaks, hisses, crackles or smells of burning:
- Stop using it. Take the band off your wrist. If you can do so safely, unplug the cable.
- If you can do so safely, move it away from anything that can catch fire, such as bedding, curtains, paper or clothes, onto a hard surface that cannot burn, such as a tile or concrete floor. Do not touch it with bare hands if it is very hot.
- Keep children and pets away, and air the room.
- Do not charge it or use it again, do not throw it in the trash, and do not ship it, not even back to us.
- E-mail us at ninijljl972@gmail.com with "Safety" in the subject line, your order number and photos. We tell you what to do next, and replace or refund it as described in our returns policy.
If there is fire or a lot of smoke, get everyone out, close the door behind you and call 911. Do not go back for the product. If anyone is hurt, get medical help first.
Cleaning and storage
- Bands: wipe the band and strap with a soft, slightly damp cloth, and let it dry before charging.
- Ember Panel: wipe it with a dry, soft cloth. Never use water or sprays on the LEDs. Store it in its silicone cover, away from keys and sharp objects.
- Band Case: wipe it with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
- Strips and tape: keep the pouch closed between uses, in a dry place, away from heat.
- Earplugs: keep them in a clean, closed container, away from dust, lint and heat.
- Aroma Sticks: cap tightly, store away from heat and direct sun.
- Dusk Mask: hand wash, air dry flat.
- Keep the bands, Ember Panel and the cable out of hot cars and direct sun.
Disposal and recycling
- Bands and Ember Panel: never put them in household trash or a curbside bin. Batteries thrown away can start fires in garbage trucks and sorting facilities. Take them to a battery drop-off point, an electronics recycling point or a household hazardous waste collection, following your state and local rules. Before you drop one off, put tape over its charging contacts or USB-C port, or put it in its own clear plastic bag. You can read more on the EPA website, and your city or county can tell you where to go.
- A damaged or swollen device: do not leave it in an ordinary drop-off box. Ask your local household hazardous waste program how to bring it in, and keep it away from anything that can catch fire until then.
- The charging cable: take it to an electronics recycling point rather than putting it in household trash.
- Used strips, tape and earplugs: household trash, out of reach of children and pets.
- Aroma Sticks: when a stick no longer holds a scent, close its cap and put it in household trash, out of reach of children and pets.
- Dusk Mask, Band Case and packaging: follow your local rules.
Reporting a problem
If you think one of our products is unsafe, if it caused a reaction, or if something happened with it, stop using it and keep it in a safe place, away from anything that can catch fire. In an emergency, call 911. For a reaction that worries you, talk to a doctor.
Then e-mail us at ninijljl972@gmail.com with "Safety" in the subject line: the product, your order number if you have it, what happened and, if you can, photos of the product and its packaging. We answer within 2 business days, and faster when we can. We keep a record of every report and, when the law requires it, report to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
You can also report a product safety incident directly to the CPSC at SaferProducts.gov. How we handle the information in a report is explained in our Privacy Policy and our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
Recalls and safety notices
If we ever need to recall a product or share a safety notice, we will e-mail everyone who bought it, using the e-mail address given with the order. We will also post a notice on this page and on the product page, explaining clearly what to do and how we will put it right. Product recalls in the United States are also published by the Consumer Product Safety Commission at CPSC.gov/Recalls.
California Proposition 65
California's Proposition 65 requires a warning for products that can expose you to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. If a warning is ever required for one of our products, it will appear on its product page, before you buy, and on the product or its packaging.
